Sustainable Business Solutions™ is proud to receive a Top Projects of 2016 Award from The Daily Reporter for Dominion Properties’ SAGE ON PROSPECT® project located at 1509 N. Jackson Street, Milwaukee, WI. SAGE ON PROSPECT® is an extensively remodeled and expanded eldercare facility that Dominion Properties redesigned and built into 34 one and two bedroom apartments. The project included removing the four-story building’s partial top floor, and adding a full new fourth and fifth floor. The building includes rooftop solar panels to provide electricity; a geothermal system that pumps air from 300 feet beneath the ground to both heat and cool the apartments; a green roof with sedum plants to help absorb rain water and prevent run-off; recycled and sustainable building materials; LED lighting, and charging stations for electric cars.
SBS served as the LEED Consultant of this project that was basically a gut rehab transformed into a LEED Platinum Certified multi-family residential development.
“I am so proud of my work with Dominion Properties and please that this incredible LEED Platinum multi-family project was recognized. Dominion Properties are dedicated to the understanding that our environment is precious so they are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and conserving our resources”, according to Phil Vetterkind, Director of SBS. “They make choices every day that benefit their residents and “pay it forward” by educating them on the benefits and savings. They make sure that their buildings use the least amount of resources possible. In doing so, they have become better stewards of our planet. Dominion Properties are leaders, out in front of all other residential property managers and developers in Milwaukee. They are showing everyone that LEED can be done and it can make financial sense for developers to put sustainability on the priority list. They are exhibiting an entirely new way of approaching apartment construction in Milwaukee”, Vetterkind continued.
The Daily Reporter honored all awardees at their 17th Annual Top Projects awards dinner held May 16, 2017 at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino where over 750 industry professionals attended. Additionally, all projects were featured in a special section of The Daily Reporter.
