Komatsu Mining South Harbor Campus

Sustainable Building Solutions provided LEED consulting services along with general sustainability consulting services for Komatsu’s South Harbor Campus project.  SBS diligently worked with the owners and construction team to analyze and implement advanced green building technologies. Hunzinger Construction Company served as Construction Manager for Komatsu’s South Harbor Campus. The project included a 410,000 SF manufacturing plant, a 170,000-square-foot office building with a training facility, museum/visitor’s center and a 450-car parking structure. The project was designed and built to green building standards with a goal to reduce energy consumption by 75% and reducing water consumption by 80%. It has earned a LEED Gold Certification as of 2022. During construction, City of Milwaukee officials said it will was the largest ongoing urban industrial-development project in the country. This project also had rigorous diversity and inclusion goals including a 25% small business enterprise utilization requirement and a 40% City of Milwaukee Resident Preference Program utilization requirement. Eppstein Uhen Architects (EUA) was the design team which included GRAEF as the engineering firm.
