Sustainable Building Solutions teamed with Kindness Architecture and Eppstein Uhen Architects for the LEED Consulting portion of the new Student Center project at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse located at 1725 State Street, La Crosse, WI.
This student center was designed to provide student gathering and social areas study areas, offices for student organizations and for the Student Centers Administration and Admissions Offices, as well as, general use meeting rooms, performance venues, large meeting rooms, food service kitchen and dining areas, various retail spaces, and textbook rental area. The new student center incorporates sustainable design principles that are sensible and valid, especially those with an emphasis on energy efficiency. The student center met the requirements of Wisconsin Executive Order 145, which states that new State buildings are to be designed to use 30 percent less energy than commercial code (2009 International Energy Conservation Code). The project includes the latest sustainable features and achieved LEED BD+ C Gold certification.
